Socialize. A newly divorced woman over 40 should return to the dating scene at her own pace by socializing in whichever ways she feels comfortable with. Some great ways to meet men for a woman over 40 are to join a club or gym, get set up by friends, try online dating, go to sporting events, attend church, adopt a dog to walk in the park, or take a new class. Most importantly, be active and get out there.
Have fun. Don’t talk about your ex-husband or intense commitment on the first date. It’s important to have fun and not take things too seriously in the beginning.
Give yourself a makeover. Take time to groom yourself, be polite, punctual and relax. This isn’t a job interview. If it doesn’t work out, it’s not the end of the world.
Wait a while before becoming intimate. Don’t have sex until you’ve done your homework on your date. Learn as much information about your partner as possible, which will also help the conversation flow to topics of interest. Learn about his family, pets, favorite foods, birthday, favorite movies, etc., which are great topics to find out whether or not you will be compatible long term.
